Age groups & eligibility

• Open to athletes of all genders aged 18+. Age is calculated at the date specified in the entry form.
• Athletes must be registered with an affiliated Gymnastics Australia or New Zealand club. Reach out to the organisers if you need help with insurance or finding a club.
• Enter the Division that best matches the general difficulty of the skills you'll perform. You must compete at the same Division on all apparatus.

Categories

All-Around eligibility

• Men's AA: compete a minimum of four MAG apparatus. You may compete all six, with the best four counting for AA.
• Women's AA: compete all WAG apparatus to be eligible for AA.
• Double AA: MAG & WAG divisions are split this year, so you can compete a different division for MAG events than for WAG events.

Those competing both MAG & WAG in a different division must perform 2 appropriate vaults for each. For example, an athlete who is Novice WAG but Advanced MAG would compete:

WAG ALP Levels Program

• Available from your club.
• Technical members can access ALP documents under the Benefits tab of their Gymnastics Online profile.
• Download from the GA WAG app.
• Contact the organisers if you need help finding the ALP.

Novice division

There are Element Groups for each apparatus, but there are no deductions for not completing a recommended element in the Novice division. The tables are a guide only. There is no requirement for the dismount to be a salto in Novice.

General (all apparatus except vault)

• Minimum of 5 elements (4 skills and a dismount).
• 'A' elements may be repeated once for difficulty in a routine.
• Elements not listed in the current WAG CoP or the compositional recommendation tables may be accepted at the judge's discretion.

Vault

• 2 vaults; best score to count. You may perform 2 different vaults.
• Any age may use a mini tramp with no deduction.
• Repeating an invalid vault is allowed without any technical penalty (0.00).
• A valid vault is recognised when attempted and completed.
• Any vault from the FIG CoP will be awarded at CoP value.

Uneven bars

• Up to seven skills + dismount counted for value.
• Additional skills counted for value in each division (0.10 each): glide swing, long swing, pullover, mill circle, swing pullover.
• Any bar setting is allowed. If you need the bars raised, submit this to the organisers before the competition.
• A crash mat for the dismount or under the bar is permitted in all divisions.

Balance beam

• Up to seven skills + dismount counted for value.
• Additional skills counted for value in each division (0.10 each): straight or stride jump / any roll.
• 115cm or 125cm beam height (30cm crash mat allowed under the beam and/or dismount).
• Additional matting up to 30cm is permitted without deduction.

Floor

• Up to seven skills + dismount counted for value.
• Additional skills counted for value (0.10 each): tuck jump (also with ½ turn) / straight jump ½ / handstand / cartwheel / any roll.
• Novice routines may be performed on one floor strip or on the diagonal.
• Novice routines may be performed with or without music.
• Additional matting up to 30cm is permitted without deduction.

• No requirement to perform a salto element.
• No requirement to use all 4 corners of the floor.
• 'Out of area' deductions do not apply.

Pommel horse

• Minimum 5 elements (4 + dismount).
• Double Leg Circles on the handles and Cross Support Circles on the outer zone are recognised as two separate elements.
• Any intentional stops receive no deduction.
• The FIG requirement for an Element Group II and III skill to be immediately followed by another listed CoP skill will not be applied.

Rings

• Minimum 5 elements (4 + dismount).
• Additional swings of no value are only deducted for execution errors.
• No requirement to perform a swing to handstand.
• The FIG requirement to break a sequence of strength skills with a swing skill will not be applied.

Parallel bars

• Minimum 5 elements (4 + dismount).
• Additional swings of no value are only deducted for execution errors.
• May be set at any height up to a maximum of 180cm above the standard 20cm competition matting.
• Layaway deductions will not apply.

Horizontal bar

• Minimum 5 elements (4 + dismount).
• Additional swings of no value are only deducted for execution errors.

Vault (all competitors)

• 2 vaults; best score to count. You may perform 2 different vaults.
• Any age may use a mini tramp with no deduction.
• Repeating an invalid vault is allowed without any technical penalty (0.00).
• A valid vault is recognised when attempted and completed.
• Any vault from the FIG CoP will be awarded at CoP value.

Vault requirements are consistent across MAG & WAG.

Intermediate & Advanced

Element Groups are a requirement of the Masters Intermediate Division. Any skill listed in the "Additional Elements for Compositional Requirements" tables is worth an 'A' value; any FIG CoP element has its FIG CoP 2025 difficulty value.

Intermediate only

• 0.5 bonus automatically applied to start scores on every apparatus (Cheeky Peaky).
• Elements not listed in the current MAG CoP or the recommendation tables may be accepted at the judge's discretion.

Advanced only

• Bonus for each 'C' element or higher: 3 to count, for a maximum bonus of 0.9 (not including the dismount).
• Awarded if performed without a fall or large error.

All apparatus except vault

• Minimum 6 elements (5 + dismount); maximum 8 elements (7 + dismount).

Floor

• No requirement to perform a double salto element, or to use all 4 corners.
• A strength press to handstand must show a defined stop (before any hand movement); hold for 2 seconds for no presentation deductions.
• Simple steps/transitions to the corner incur no deduction, but artistic transitions or 180° turns are encouraged.

Pommel horse

• No requirement to use all parts of the pommel horse.
• Double Leg Circles on the handles and Cross Support Circles on the outer zone are two separate elements.
• The FIG requirement for an EG II and III skill to be immediately followed by another listed CoP skill will not be applied.

Rings

• Additional swings of no value are only deducted for execution errors.
• No requirement to perform a swing to handstand.
• A "beat dislocate (from basket/piked hang)" and EG I.25 "Dislocate bwd, piked or stretched" are two separate elements.
• Any sequence of EG II and EG III elements (max three in direct succession) can be broken by any EG I element, including kips.

Parallel bars

• Additional swings of no value are only deducted for execution errors.
• Layaway deductions will not apply.

Horizontal bar

• Additional swings of no value are only deducted for execution errors.
• FIG deductions for change of direction will not apply. Layaway deductions will not apply.
• Cast has no amplitude requirement (normal presentation errors still apply).
• A "flight" element is not a requirement for any division.

Working with Children Check

In line with the Gymnastics Australia Child Safe Policy (11.4), all technical officials, paid staff and host-club employees must have a current, valid Working with Children Check uploaded to their GOL at least two weeks before the event.

WAG scoring

WAG uses the current system of D and E scores. There are no neutral deductions applied in any Masters routine.

• If a skill is attempted and recognised, it receives its value. Skill values are as in the current CoP (ALP); up to 7 skills + dismount count into DV.
• Apparatus bonus is listed under each apparatus CR. There are only two (2) bonuses per apparatus.
• Skill base values: A = 0.1, B = 0.2, C = 0.3. Values double per the Peak bonuses table where applicable.

MAG scoring

There are no neutral deductions applied in any Masters routine. The E score is judged out of 10 (per the ALP General Table of Faults) and is calculated automatically when scores are entered.
